A Study in the Art of Sitting.
ChairLab creates seating with a clear point of view: considered proportions, honest materials, and comfort that feels natural from the first sit. Every piece is designed to belong in the room and hold up to everyday life.

Chair Lab explores the chair as more than an object.
A silhouette.
A gesture.
A presence within a room.
Our collections are shaped by an appreciation for proportion, material, and restraint, where sculptural forms meet the intimacy of everyday living.
We are drawn to pieces with character: a precise curve, an unexpected line, the richness of texture, the quiet confidence of a form that needs no explanation.
Rather than follow a single aesthetic, Chair Lab moves between softness and structure, familiarity and expression. Each piece is considered for how it occupies space, and how it makes that space feel.
Created by By Arte and rooted in a Canadian design perspective, Chair Lab presents a new language of contemporary seating.
Objects to live with.
Forms to remember.
Thoughtful From Every Angle
Frame
The frame gives each chair its structure, balance, and overall character, with clean lines and a solid foundation designed for everyday use.
Every connection and proportion is considered to keep the chair feeling stable and refined, without making the construction look heavy or overworked.

Cushion
The cushion is designed to feel soft and inviting while still giving enough support for regular, everyday sitting.
Its shape and fill are balanced to stay comfortable over time, helping the seat keep a clean profile without feeling stiff or overly structured.

Dimensions
Each piece is proportioned to feel comfortable without taking up more room than it needs, making it easier to place in a range of spaces.
Seat height, depth, width, and overall scale are considered together so the chair feels balanced in the room and natural to use.

Finished With Care
Construction
The details are kept clean and intentional, from the way the lines meet to how the chair holds its shape. Nothing is added just for show.
Each piece is finished with care, with proportions and details that make the chair feel settled in the room rather than overly styled.

Custom Sizing
Sizing
Each chair is made with scale in mind, so it feels right in the room instead of looking too large, too small, or out of place.
The width, height, depth, and overall profile are balanced to make the piece easy to place and comfortable to live with.

Proportion
Good proportions are what make a chair feel natural before you even sit in it. The shape should make sense from every angle.
We keep the design clear and balanced, so the chair works with the space around it instead of fighting for attention.
